It’s NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles, and luxury streetwear brand Kith, which has stores in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Miami, has timed the opening of its first Los Angeles store with this hoops-filled event. Kith’s 3,500-square-foot West Hollywood shop — it’s all cool concrete, marble and glass — opens Friday.

“This is one of the most influential and cultural cities in the U.S.,” said Ronnie Fieg, Kith’s founder and creative director. “And we wanted to offer a unique shopping experience in a specific setting.” The latest Kith store is in the bottom floor of the Sunset Boulevard building, which is also home to the recently opened Fred Segal. Kith’s subterranean shop, Fieg said, gives the space a “gritty charm, bringing the aesthetic of New York City to Los Angeles.”

The 6-year-old brand sells its own collections as well as those of labels such as Kenzo, Off-White and Yeezy. To commemorate the Los Angeles opening, Kith will bow a LeBron James collaboration of shoes, hooded sweatshirts and shorts; one style of shoes will be exclusively available at the new West Hollywood location. Kith prices range from $8 for a pin to $1,500 for outerwear.

The line encompasses five sizes between carry-on and check-in luggage, and will also include leather stickers representing various NBA teams. The collection is priced from $195 to $295, and will be available starting Friday online and at Away’s Beverly Grove store.

The Friday debut of Brooklyn, N.Y.-based luxury sneaker brand Greats in L.A. also happens to coincide with All-Star Weekend; that’s when the footwear label sets up shop in Venice.

“It’s simple and minimal, clean and modern,” said Ryan Babenzien, chief executive officer and founder of Greats, about the space. “We wanted to respect the community and leave a low impact and not rip everything apart.”

The 740-square-foot bungalow store will house the brand’s collection of upscale-yet-casual sneakers for men and women, including its bestselling Royale, an Italian-made leather shoe that comes in numerous colors. Prices in the collection run from $60 to $200.

Babenzien said the importance of a great sneaker in everyone’s wardrobe should not underestimated.

“We’re rooted in the classics,” Babenzien said. “There are 10 great silhouettes in all sneakers. And we wanted to reimagine them and do them better.” What’s next? Soon Greats will bow a sneaker available exclusively at the Venice store.
