Share

One person is dead Monday afternoon after being struck by a passing Metrolink train near Glendale.

The AV Line 218 was traveling southbound toward Los Angeles when it collided with a woman on the tracks sometime around 2:45 p.m. near San Fernando Road and Colorado Street in Atwater Village. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Officer Rosario Herrera with the Los Angeles Police Department.

As of 4:20 p.m. the scene remained an active investigation site, she said.

The collision created a cascade effect along the tracks outside of the Glendale and Burbank area, delaying and leading to the cancellation of several other trains. As a result, Metrolink announced on social media that impacted passengers will be transported by bus to nearby stations.

It’s unknown if any passengers on AV Line 218 were injured during the incident.
