Los Angeles just got a little more sane. Ashley Wright, an organizer for the L.A. version of Jon Stewart’s forthcoming Rally to Restore Sanity, confirmed that she had secured a permit for the gathering, which is scheduled to take place Oct. 30 at MacArthur Park’s Levitt Pavilion.

Wright and co-organizer Amy Lee have raised about $6,500 for the satellite rally, largely through Facebook. They’ve also arranged for an LED screen to show a live broadcast of the main event, which is to be led by the ‘Daily Show’ host in Washington. (Stewart’s D.C. event is to be combined with Stephen Colbert’s March to Keep Fear Alive.)

Lee and Wright had originally applied for a permit to meet at Pershing Square, but that application was denied by the city last week. (The date conflicted with preparations for the square’s winter festivities, according to a Parks and Recreation spokesperson.)

Now that they’ve secured Levitt Pavilion, all that’s left to do is book talent for the event.

[For the record, 1:46 p.m.: An earlier version of this post said the permit was denied earlier this week; it also stated that Colbert’s rally would be separate; it has been combined with the Stewart rally.]
