Times staff writer David W. Myers catches up with former Dodgers and Angels

One of the original Los Angeles Angels, “Satch” was known more for his versatility in the field than for his prowess at the plate. He played every infield position for the club before landing the starting job as catcher in 1968, but was traded to Boston in 1969 and retired after the 1970 season with a lifetime .225 average.

Satriano, 53, owns an accounting firm in Brentwood. His son, Nick, played baseball at UC Santa Barbara and is the baseball coach at Malibu High. His daughter, Gina, was the first female to play Little League baseball in Southern California and now pitches for the Colorado Silver Bullets, the all-woman professional team.
