A gunman got out of a gray vehicle and fired multiple rounds at the teenagers, police said. He was last seen running west on Pacific Coast Highway toward Avalon Boulevard, Ramirez said.

The teens were taken to area hospitals, where one later died.

It’s unclear what motivated the shooting and whether the victims were connected to the school.

Los Angeles Unified School District officials said they had no comment about the shooting.
