KCBS-TV Channel 2 has scored a major win by becoming the official TV home to preseason Rams games.

Under the multiyear partnership, CBS 2 will provide the team’s hometown market with exclusive telecasts of Rams preseason games, excluding match-ups that will be broadcast by the National Football League’s national television partners.

It’s a big coup for the channel. The Rams’ return to L.A. brings professional football back to the area after a 21-year hiatus.

The Rams kick off preseason in L.A. on Aug. 13, when they square off with the Dallas Cowboys at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (the team’s temporary home). That game, though, will be televised on ESPN.

Games that will air on CBS 2 this year in the lead-up to the 2016 season include: a Saturday, Aug. 20, home game against Kansas City; a Saturday, Aug. 27, contest at Denver; and a Thursday, Sept. 1, game at Minnesota.

To further amplify its coverage of the returning home team, CBS 2 will produce and broadcast a weekly half-hour show with Rams head coach Jeff Fisher and CBS 2 sports director Jim Hill.

“We look forward to helping the team to connect with local communities across Southern California,” said Steve Mauldin, president and general manager of CBS 2 and sister station KCAL 9., in a statement.
