Joan Rivers passed away at age 81 less than two weeks ago but a new biography is already in the works. Publisher Little, Brown announced Tuesday that Leslie Bennetts will write “Joan Rivers: A Life,” slated for publication in 2016.

A release promises that this will be “the definitive book about Rivers’ tumultuous, victorious, tragic, glamorous and fascinating life.”

Of course, Rivers also told her story, in the memoirs “Enter Talking,” “Still Talking,” “Diary of a Mad Diva,” “I Hate Everyone -- Starting with Me,” “Bouncing Back: I’ve Survived Everything -- and I Mean Everything” and “Men Are Stupid... They Like Big Boobs: A Woman’s Guide to Beauty through Plastic Surgery.”

It’s not like she held much back. “Bouncing Back” chronicled her husband’s suicide, the cancellation of her talk show, a business going bust and estrangement from her daughter (they later made up, hosting television shows together).

Perhaps there’s more to say than Rivers could say herself. Bennetts, the author tasked with getting the story, is a veteran of Vanity Fair and the New York Times.

In the release, Bennetts says: “Joan Rivers’ life story was, in every way, a remarkably dramatic roller-coaster ride characterized by triumphant highs and devastating lows, one that is both wildly entertaining and deeply moving. But Rivers’ career was also enormously significant in American cultural history, breaking down barriers for women in television and comedy and continually redefining the acceptable boundaries of truth-telling for women in public life. It’s hard to imagine a more compelling subject for a book -- or one that would be more fun.”
