Meryl Streep has sold a home in Hollywood Hills West to New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez for $4.8 million, The Times has confirmed.

The Oscar-winning actress bought the house early last year for $4.5 million.

Known as the Honnold & Rex Research House, the 1954 house was redesigned and reconfigured by earlier owner Xorin Balbes. Walls of glass open to a courtyard with a pool and a spa. The two-story living room has a floor-to-ceiling stone wall and fireplace.

Other living spaces in the 3,700 square feet include an entry, dining and family rooms, four bedrooms and four bathrooms.

Streep, 65, won Academy Awards for her work in “The Iron Lady” (2011), “Sophie’s Choice” (1982) and “Kramer vs. Kramer” (1979). The versatile and busy actress is in three movies this year: “The Homesman,” “The Giver” and “Into the Woods.”

Rodriguez, 39, played for the Seattle Mariners and the Texas Rangers before joining the Yankees a decade ago. A suspension related to the Biogenesis performance-enhancing drug scandal has kept A-Rod from professional play this year.

The NYPost.com reports that Rodriguez owns homes in New York and Miami. He has been seen training at UCLA this summer.

Ian L. Brooks of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties was the listing agent. Andrew Clark and Barry Peele of Sotheby’s International Realty represented Rodriguez.
