One person died in front of the Westin hotel near Los Angeles International Airport after a shooting Wednesday afternoon.

Los Angeles police Officer Norma Eisenman said it was not immediately clear if the person killed was the shooting suspect.

The shooting, police said, was related to an attempted robbery that took place at a marijuana dispensary near the hotel.

Police were called to the Westin, located at Century Boulevard and Concourse Way, just before 12:20 p.m., said Officer Liliana Preciado of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Initial reports indicated two people were injured, Preciado said. One person was shot in the abdomen, she said, and a second fell down but did not have a gunshot wound.

The shooter was described as a man wearing a beige shirt, green pants and a brown baseball cap who was last seen in a black BMW.

Television footage showed multiple police cars at the location. Some streets had been closed, including Century between Concourse Way and La Cienega Boulevard.
