Shaun White shows up at teen’s prom
It was almost two months ago that a Pennsylvania high school student posted a self-made music video asking snowboard star Shaun White to escort her to the prom.
Carly Monzo never got an answer -- until the big night.
When Monzo arrived at the Mount St. Joseph Academy prom with a friend on Friday, she was summoned to the stage.
The curtains parted and White was standing there. He had flown in from Austria, bringing his band, Bad Things.
“Probably the happiest moment of my life,” Monzo later tweeted. “It’s still so surreal.”
The Olympic medalist informed the school weeks ago that he would attend. Monzo’s parents reportedly weren’t told until the morning before.
The pair danced to a slow song and White gave her a kiss. Even the band enjoyed themselves.
“Most of us have never been to prom,” they tweeted. “Thanks.”
