“Candid Camera” meets “Jackass” in Katy Perry’s loopy new video for “Birthday” from her latest album, “Prism.”

Ditching the super sexy persona employed in most of her videos, Perry says she “went undercover,” in heavy makeup, to portray “the five worst birthday party entertainers ever.”

The video, directed by Mark Klasfeld and Danny Lockwood, opens with brief interviews with Perry, in character as a portly Jewish comedian, a fading Las Vegas sexpot, a crusty animal trainer, a scary clown (is there another kind?) and a clueless fairy princess before showing snippets of what appear to be genuinely pranked parties at which she appeared without revealing her real identity.

Guests at a man’s 90th birthday party look on in horror as the cleavage-flashing Vegas entertainer takes center stage, and attendees at the other gatherings also show expressions ranging from amusement to confusion and disgust.

TMZ.com reports that guests at a real party for a 5-year-old were genuinely upset when her clown character wanders away from attempting to break open a piñata and into the street, causing an oncoming car to crash into another vehicle parked nearby.

Perry, who recently taped a new episode of “CMT Crossroads” with country singer Kacey Musgraves, told late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel recently that “I was sick of making, like, gorgeous music videos where I’m, like, sexual...” to which Kimmel responded, “People are sick of that!”

Her previous video, “Dark Horse,” has logged more than 256 million views since it went up in February. It was re-edited after some Muslims protested a brief scene showing the incineration of a medallion with the word “Allah” in Arabic.
