Police seek one-eyed man in connection with double killing at 7-Eleven

Police are looking for a one-eyed man suspected of fatally shooting two men Thursday morning in front of a Van Nuys 7-Eleven.

The incident took place about 6 a.m. in the 8000 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.

According to police, Angel Santana, 29, and another man allegedly began shooting at two men, after a brief confrontation. The other suspected gunman, who has not been named, fled south on Sepulveda Boulevard, police said.

“Santana is a known gang member and with his appearance, it won’t be easy for him to hide,” said Capt. Todd Chamberlain with the LAPD Mission Division in a statement.

In addition to the two men killed, a 50-year-old man who was standing near the shooting was wounded but is expected to survive.

“We are still trying to piece together what motivated the shooting,” Chamberlain said. “But we do know enough to know that this was not some random act. It appears that there was some rivalry or animus between the groups.”

The victims in the shooting have not been identified yet, said Ed Winter, a spokesman with the coroner’s office.

Witnesses identified Santana as one of the two shooters. Police described him as 5 feet 7 inches tall and 150 pounds. He is missing a left eye and has tattoos over his left eyebrow, right jaw and right side of his neck.

Santana drives a Ford F-150 pickup truck with a California license plate number of 7U83839, police said.

Authorities said they have alerted the California Highway Patrol and the United States Border Patrol to be on the lookout for Santana.
