Pasadena Restaurant Week, Food Bank gala at Fifty Seven, Republique wine dinner

Pasadena Restaurant Week kicks off next week, running from April 27 to May 2. Local restaurants will offer special prix-fixe menus with two courses for lunch, priced at $15, $20 or $25, and three courses for dinner, at $26, $35 or $44. (Some prices vary, and drinks, tax and tip are not included.) More than 40 Pasadena restaurants are participating, including the Langham Huntington Pasadena (Royce grilled salad, marinated skirt steak and molten chocolate cake at the Royce Wood Fired Steak House is $44), Pie ‘n’ Burger (cheeseburger, fries and a soft for $10.95) and Picnik (for $18 for lunch or dinner, choose any two sausages and one side dish). Among other participants are Osek, SECO New American, Celestino Ristorante and Bar, Kal’s Bistro, Malbec, Trattoria Neapolis, Kathleen’s, Green Street Restaurant, Roy’s, El Cholo and Dona Rosa. Republique’s winemaker dinner series continues with Mathieu Deiss of Domaine Marcel Deiss on April 28. Deiss will present a selection of the Vins de Fruits as well as Premier and Grand Cru Vins de Terroirs. The dinner will feature five courses prepared by chef Walter Manzke and 10 wines from Domaine Marcel Deiss. 7 p.m. $145 per person, plus tax and service. Chef David Nayfeld of new downtown restaurant Fifty Seven will host a benefit dinner for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank on May 12. The six-course dinner with wine pairings will feature a lineup of chefs including Ari Taymor of Alma, Evan Funke of Bucato and Tim Hollingsworth and Rory Herrmann of the coming restaurant at the Broad museum. 7 p.m. cocktail reception, 8 p.m. dinner. $275 per person.
