For L.A. drivers, #Obamajam is almost over as president heads to Palm Springs
President Obama’s brief trip to Los Angeles is wrapping up Friday, but not fast enough for some drivers trying to beat the morning rush to work.
The traffic woes began Thursday when Obama arrived at Los Angeles International Airport after attending political fundraisers in the Bay Area. Several streets in Los Angeles were closed as the president dashed through the area to attend a fundraiser and TV interview.
Obama taped a segment on Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime show “Ellen” in Burbank before heading to fundraisers organized by the Democratic National Committee. The interview will air Friday.

Later that night, he appeared at a concert and fundraiser in Hancock Park, where he talked about campaign promises that he made and must still complete.
“We haven’t gotten 100% of what I wanted to get done. But we got about 80,” the president told donors Thursday night.
After spending a night in Los Angeles, Obama will head out and travel Friday to the Coachella Valley, Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage for a two-day summit for Southeast Asia leaders at the 200-acre Sunnylands estate.
But before Obama leaves Los Angeles, several streets will remain closed Friday, much to the dismay of Angeleno drivers.
Adriana Rivera on Twitter said, “Obama in la. The only thing worse than la traffic is la traffic plus Obama traffic.”
Bryan Medina lamented over the extra security brought on by Obama’s visit.
“Kinda silly of me to see five large helicopters and not think anything of it. I was warned! #Obamajam #onlyinLA,” he said.
Traffic was an issue for Angeleno Challen Cates.
“Love me some @BarackObama but I don’t love what happens to LA traffic when he comes to visit #obamajam.”
Headaches over traffic will soon be over.
The following streets will be closed:
--The area around Wilshire Boulevard between the Westwood Village area and the 405 Freeway from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
--The area around South Bundy Drive between Ocean Park Boulevard and the 10 Freeway from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
