Festival of Books participants and schedule announced

Want to see Joyce Carol Oates, Jeff Kinney, LeVar Burton, Meg Wolitzer, Matt Taibbi, Dennis Lehane, Billy Idol, T.C. Boyle, Jacqueline Woodson, Patton Oswalt, Richard Riordan, Claudia Rankine and Mallory Ortberg all in one place? Come to USC April 18 and 19 for the L.A. Times Festival of Books.

The Festival of Books is one of the largest literary festivals in the U.S., with hundreds of authors scheduled to appear. It annually attracts more than 150,000 attendees to readings, book signings, discussions, hundreds of booths and food trucks.

Some authors, such as Malcolm Gladwell, will appear in one-on-one conversations. Others, such as Cesar Chavez biographer Miriam Pawel, innovative short story writer Kelly Link and crime novelist Kem Nunn, will participate in panel discussions. Children’s book authors such as Jon Klassen will read from the Kids Stage, and chef Ludo Lefebvre can be found at the Cooking Stage.

L.A. Times subscribers have a week’s early access to get passes -- most events are free, a few are not (including parking passes) -- beginning Tuesday. General tickets will be available to the public beginning March 25.
