Nordstrom, Uniqlo to open at Del Amo Fashion Center

Nordstrom plans a gala opening for its new Del Amo Fashion Center store.

The evening of Champagne, cocktails, dinner, desserts, fashion and shopping is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Oct. 6. Tickets are $100 per person, and proceeds are earmarked to benefit Peninsula Committee Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Walk With Sally.

RSVP by Sept. 29 here, or by calling (310) 322-3900. The store opens to the public at 10 a.m. Oct. 9. It’s at 21500 Hawthorne Blvd., Torrance.

Uniqlo also is opening at Del Amo Fashion Center, and plans a special weekend of activities and promotions beginning Oct. 9. The store is at 3525 Carson St., Torrance.

In other shopping and fashion news, online retailer Shop Super Street, launched in March 2014 by Lucy Akin (former buyer at Satine) and known for its policy of making same-day deliveries to customers in L.A., has opened its first bricks-and-mortar location at 485 S. La Brea Ave. The men’s and women’s clothing and accessories blend skate and street culture with contemporary fashion.

Luxury lingerie brand Agent Provocateur has opened a new 100-square-foot boutique at Saks Fifth Avenue Beverly Hills. The space is on the third floor of the store at 9600 Wilshire Blvd.

Events

Class is Eternal blogger Sonya Esman is set to host a celebration of the first day of fall at the UGG store at The Grove from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The 2015 Making the Cut live hair show, which showcases Southern California hairstylists in a live competition, is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Avalon Hollywood. The show is put on by producer Scott Fontana, owner of Cristophe Salon in Newport Beach, and sponsors include L’Oreal Professionnel, Kerastase and Cover Girl. Sample sales

Gypsy05 has scheduled its semi-annual sample sale this weekend at 8811 Alden Drive, Los Angeles. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Prices start at $15, and merchandise includes pants, dresses, shorts, tops, swimwear, jewelry and accessories. The first 20 customers on Saturday are to receive a gift.

Apolis is having a sample sale Sept. 25-27 at 836 Traction Ave., Los Angeles. Hours are noon to 7 p.m. each day, and prices are more than 70% off, with $10 T-shirts, $20 accessories, $30 luggage, $45 sweaters and $60 jackets.

Pop-ups

San Francisco women’s apparel and accessories label Cuyana has opened a pop-up shop at 1140 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice. The pop-up is scheduled to be open through Oct. 25. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Emerging menswear brand Victor Twist is introducing its first collection at a trunk show from noon to 7 p.m. Oct. 3 at Lune Noir, 2003 Sawtelle Blvd., Los Angeles.
