Villa Deal Has All-Star Cast
Pop superstar KENNY LOGGINS and his ex-wife, Eva, have sold their Santa Barbara home to actor JEFF BRIDGES and his wife, Susan.
The Bridgeses, who put their Santa Monica home of 13 years on the market in May at $3.5 million, bought the Santa Barbara house, which had been listed at $8.5 million, for just under $7 million, sources say.
The Loggins home was originally listed in September, 1990, at $14 million, after the couple had filed for divorce. They had built the nine-bedroom home in 1988, after touring Italy.
Designed to look like a Tuscan villa, the gated estate has an 8,500-square-foot main house, guest house, pool house, caretaker’s cottage and sports complex. There are five kitchens, three laundry rooms and eight fireplaces in the home, which is on nearly 20 acres with a stream, pond, rock-grotto pool, two waterfalls, fountains, and ocean and mountain views.
The Grammy-winning Loggins, 46, was half of the 1970s pop-acoustic duo Loggins and Messina before he became a solo artist. The singer/songwriter has been working on new albums and touring since he got divorced and, in 1992, married nutritionist Julia Cooper. The couple had a child last year.
A father of four, Loggins, described in The Times’ Calendar section as “one of many icons of the rock era to make a foray into family music,” kicked off Sony Wonder’s new Family Artists Series in May with his album “Return to Pooh Corner.”
He and his new family are renting a house at the beach in Santa Barbara while a nearby home, which he bought for about $2 million, is being renovated. Loggins expects to move into that home, on about an acre, in October.
Three-time Academy Award nominee, Bridges, 44, just finished shooting the Western-adventure film “Wild Bill,” in which he plays Wild Bill Hickok. Star of the summer action-thriller “Blown Away,” he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last month.
He, his photographer wife and their three daughters are joining a number of celebrities in relocating from the Los Angeles area to Santa Barbara, prompting Montecito realtor Paul O’Keeffe to say, “We haven’t seen prices like this since 1989, our record year.”
The home that the Bridgeses bought was listed by Penelope Williams of Rodeo Realty.

FRED HAYMAN, who founded the Giorgio fashion and fragrance empire that he and his ex-wife sold to Avon in 1987 for $165 million, has put his two-acre compound at Point Dume on the market at nearly $4 million.
Hayman, who created the Fred Hayman Beverly Hills Fragrance Collections (273 and Touch) and his “Fred Hayman” boutique in Beverly Hills since the Giorgio sale, decided to sell the two-acre Malibu site, because he built a house on a nearby bluff, and he has just moved there.
The home he listed has four bedrooms and separate guest quarters in about 4,000 square feet plus an acre of park-like grounds, tennis court and ocean view. Terry O’Connor and Carol Rapf share the listing at Pritchett/Rapf & Associates, Malibu.

ELIZABETH TAYLOR’S former Puerto Vallarta hacienda, known as Casa Kimberly, is for sale as a bed-and-breakfast at $1.4 million, including furnishings. The two-house compound was turned into a B&B; after its current owners, Californians Frank and Toy Holstein, bought it from the actress in 1990.
Taylor had owned the compound since the early 1960s. She and late actor Richard Burton, who were married in Puerto Vallarta, bought the two houses, across the street from each other, and joined them by a bridge, built to resemble the Bridge of Sighs in Venice, Italy.
The 22,000-square-foot compound has 10 bedrooms, 11 baths and 2 kitchens. It also has a 17-by-47-foot swimming pool and ocean views. Rooms rent for $45 to $125 a night. Cruise-line passengers can get a peek at $5 a person.
The Holsteins listed the property because they plan to retire, said listing agent Bill Greene of Century 21 Park in Long Beach.

Bassist JOHN TAYLOR, co-founder in the late 1970s of the English pop-band Duran Duran, has leased a three-bedroom home in the Beverly Hills area.
Taylor, 34, and his wife, Amanda, rented the two-story, 3,500-square-foot house for a year at $4,500 a month, sources say.
The house had been listed for lease with Elaine Young and Paul Czako, both of Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate in Beverly Hills. Johanna Falduto of Stan Herman/Stephen Shapiro & Associates, Beverly Hills, represented the Taylors.

TERRY SCHROEDER, captain of three U.S. Olympic water-polo teams and the model used by sculptor Robert Graham in creating a bronze male figure outside the L.A. Coliseum for the 1984 Games, has purchased a home at Sherwood Country Club, near Westlake Village.
Schroeder and his wife, Lori, both chiropractors, bought a four-bedroom home with mountain and lake views for nearly $625,000 through Tony Lennon, Sherwood director of sales and marketing who is a cousin of the singing Lennon Sisters.
