TV ratings: ‘The Voice’ dominates key demo; ‘NCIS’ No. 1 in viewers

NBC’s “The Voice “ boosted the network to No. 1 in viewer ratings in the key 18-to-49-year-old demographic Tuesday night.

The singing competition earned a rating of 4.0 in the key demo, according to Nielsen. Roughly 13.5 million people tuned in to see contestants during another round of blind auditions.

It was the third-most watched program of the night, trailing CBS’ “NCIS” and “NCIS: New Orleans.”

Also on NBC, “Chicago Fire” posted a rating of 2.4 in the key demo. Though down 8% from last week’s premiere, the show averaged 9 million viewers overall and rated third in the key demo.

Overall, NBC was first in the key demo with a rating of 3.5. It averaged 12 million viewers.

Meanwhile, CBS’ “NCIS” was the most watched program of the night with a whopping 18.6 million viewers. It earned a rating of 2.6 in the key demo, down 10% from last week’s premiere.

“NCIS: New Orleans,” the third iteration of the show’s franchise, retained 95% of its premiere audience but posted slightly lower ratings than its lead-in. The show earned a rating of 2.3 in the key demo and averaged 16.4 million viewers.

“Person of Interest” was up 6% from last week’s premiere, earning a rating of 1.8 in the key demo. It averaged 10.7 million viewers in its 10 p.m. time slot.

CBS earned a rating of 2.2. in the key demo and was first in overall viewership, averaging 15.2 million viewers.

ABC’s new comedy “Selfie” posted a rating of 1.4 in the key demo and averaged 4.9 million viewers.

According to data provided by Canvs, a social TV platform created by social media insights firm Mashwork, there were 12,539 tweets about the show. Of these tweets, 4,473 contained reactions such as “love” (49.2%).

The network’s pilot for the romantic comedy “Manhattan Love Story” earned a rating of 1.3 in the key demo. It averaged 4.3 million viewers, or 93% of its “Selfie” lead-in, in the key demo.

“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” hit its series low with a rating of 1.7 in the key demo, down 19% from last week’s premiere.

Of the ABC shows, “Forever” saw the highest viewership numbers. Roughly 5.6 million people tuned in to the show, which aired at 10 p.m. It tied with “Manhattan Love Story” in the key demo with a rating of 1.3.

On Fox, “Utopia” stayed even with last week in the key demo with a rating of 0.8. It drew 2 million viewers.

“The Mindy Project,” which earned a rating of 1.1 in the key demo, was up 10% from last week’s episode.
