The Robb Report, a publication that identifies itself as “Your Global Luxury Resource,” has graced three high-end motorcycles with its coveted “Best of the Best” designation — the Moto Guzzi California 1400 Custom, the BMW R 1200 GS, and the Ducati 1199 Panigale R.

The Moto Guzzi took Robb’s top honors in the Cruiser category, as did the BMW in Adventure/Touring and the Ducati in Sportbike.

What do the three have in common? High-quality workmanship, great performance and big MSRPs. The Moto Guzzi retails at $14,990, the BMW at $15,800 and the Ducati at almost $30,000.

The Robb Report is known for its celebration of excellence and wretched excess. The current online issue of the venerable institution also designates the best in yachts, private jets, sports cars, luxury automobiles, watches, jewelry and other trappings of wealth.

Last year’s Robb Report motorcycle winners were the Raider SCL from Star Motorcycles, as best Cruiser, the Harley-Davidson Switchback in the Touring category, the Confederate X132 Hellcat in the Custom slot, and the Panigale, again, in the Sportbike group.
