L.A. Auto Show: Porsche unveils 911 and Cayman GTS, Panamera Exclusive

Porsche is coming to the L.A. Auto Show with a pair of GTS models from its 911 and Cayenne lines, along with an exclusive new Panamera.

The top performer of the trio is the 911 GTS, powered by a 430-horsepower rear-engine power plant that rushes from zero to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds when equipped an automatic transmission. The engine produces a whopping 325 pound-feet of torque. Top speed: 190 mph.

“The new GTS we are presenting at this year’s la auto show is a succinctly sporty version of our iconic 911,” said Bernhard Maier, head of Porsche’s sales and marketing

The manual version costs $115,195, while the automatic is $120,035. Fuel economy was not released.

The GTS comes standard with the Porsche active suspension management system, as well as its Torque Vectoring package, which together should make the horsepower and torque almost manageable.

Also standard is a Sport Chrono package, which will record your lap times, and a “sport” and “sport plus” button to stiffen steering and suspension settings.

Trailing the 911 GTS literally and figuratively, but not by much, is the Cayenne GTS SUV.

This model swaps out the previous V-8 for a 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 that makes 400 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque.

The update means the GTS trims 0.5 seconds off its 0-62 mph time, making this run in 5.2 seconds now (5.1 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package).

“I’m pleased to announce that we won’t keep you waiting any longer for the second generation Cayenne GTS,” Maier said. “It has four doors, yes, but it’s a true GTS believe me.”

The German sports car manufacturer also introduced the Panamera Exclusive – with plans to sell just 100 of them worldwide.

The long-wheelbase, all-wheel-drive vehicle’s V-8 engine puts out 570 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, with a top “track speed” of 192 mph. Zero-to-60 mph passes in 3.7 seconds.

The Exclusive sports 20-inch “Sport Classic” wheels and a four-way rear spoiler. Park assist is standard; optional are a lane departure warning, active cruise control and “Lane Change Assist,” which warns the driver before the car wanders into a neighboring lane.
Hand-made Exclusive badges, inside and out, and a five-piece matching luggage set round out the package.

Pricing has not been announced. Expect to pay somewhere between quite a lot and way too much.
